The 2020 Cote a Cotes checks in as 45% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 22% Mourvèdre, with the balance Graciano and Viognier, that was brought up in equal parts barrel, concrete, and amphora. It’s a full-bodied, ripe, sexy wine offering fabulous dark fruits as well as subtle violet and orange blossom aromatics. The balance is spot on, it has terrific purity, and it’s another brilliant wine in the making.
"Consistently thrilling wines come from l’Aventure, which is run with incredible talent and passion by St. Emilion native Stephan Asseo". Jeb Dunnuck

Stephan Asseo, owner and winemaker at L’Aventure Winery, has been making wine for almost 40 years now. He established Domaine Courteillac in Bordeaux and later purchased Ch. Fleur Cardinal, Saint Emilion Grand Cru, and Ch. Robin, Côtes de Castillion.

He’s long had a reputation for being a maverick vigneron, keen to be more innovative than AOC regulations would permit. His search for great terroir in a more flexible winemaking environment led him to Paso Robles, one of California’s most exciting, up and coming wine regions. It is here that he founded L’Aventure, planting mostly red Rhone varieties, with a smaller proportion of Red Bordeaux varieties. High density planting and green harvesting result in exceptionally low yields, equating to one bottle of wine per vine.
