A ripe nose features notes of plum, dark berries, earth and a beautiful array of spice elements where the wood treatment is reasonably discreet though my no means invisible. There is excellent volume and plenty of punch to the solidly concentrated medium weight flavors that display plenty of minerality on the delicious, balanced and lingering finish where the wood reappears. This compact and powerful effort is not particularly refined but has the balance to reward extended cellaring.
