With ripe tropical and glaceed fruit flavours on the palate, there is no sense of heaviness here - just an ethereal lift on the finish. Despite the deep, intense colour this SGN Gewurztraminer is remarkably youthful and vibrant. From a difficult vintage, a beautiful September saved the harvest. Individual berries were picked, starting on 29 October. Potential alcohol of 22.5%, with 146g/l rs in the finished wine.
2001 Hugel, Gewurztraminer Selection de Grains Nobles

A great specialty for several generations of the Hugel family, who drafted the law on late harvest. Wine with great power and longevity to taste religiously by itself on a special occasion. These wines made from single berry selection of overripe and shrivelled grapes picked one by one and produced in the greatest years only. The action of noble rot (botrytis cinerea) gives them an almost unlimited ability to age. They are part of the elite of the greatest wines in France.
