Almaviva

Almaviva was established in 1996 by Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton-Rothschild and Concha y Toro, with the aim of establishing a Chilean wine that would be the equal of Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé. Taking a parcel of Concha y Toro's best Puente Alto (Maipo Valley) vineyards, the late Patrick Leon who was also winemaker at Mouton and Opus One forged a Cabernet blend which garnered universal praise for consistently outstanding quality. Michel Friou took over the winemaking in 2007 and has continued to refine Almaviva into the world class wine it is today.
